Y2TEC is an intervention to help young adults living with HIV stay engaged and work through problems that get in the way of maintaining their health and wellness.
Y2TEC uses weekly video chat counseling and text messaging to help young adults ages 18-29 living with HIV improve their engagement in HIV care by addressing mental health, substance use, and other relevant barriers.
Y2TEC increases the accessibility of services for mental health or substance use challenges that can make it especially difficult for young people to stay on top of HIV health care. Our method of video counseling makes it easier for young adults to participate since sessions can be done at home, in a car, or in any private location between work, classes, or other obligations.
Y2TEC clients receive:
- 12 video chat counseling sessions focusing on HIV care, mental health, substance use, and other areas of life, lasting 20-30 minutes each.
- Text messages are used for checking in, giving reminders of weekly goals, and providing resources.
The Y2TEC manual is a comprehensive guide to delivering Y2TEC successfully in your organization.

- Instructions for counseling session delivery, including a training plan and training videos
